A Year at Gather Social: The Best Decision I Ever Made

14 March 2025

One year ago, during my lunch break at my old 9-5 marketing job, I came across an ad for a position as a Social Media Content Creator at Gather Social. At that point in my life, I was incredibly unhappy. I felt stuck, unable to grow or develop as a person and I dreaded each day at work. It was as if I was trapped in a cycle with no way out. But then, I thought to myself—what have I got to lose?

Two days later, I submitted my application. Five days after that, I was invited for an interview. The moments leading up to that interview were some of the scariest of my life. I was trying to juggle the immense pressure my old job had just placed on my shoulders—essentially expecting me to run their entire marketing department—while also managing my grief after losing my grandad. Walking up those stairs into the Gather Social office was terrifying, but it turned out to be one of the best things I have ever done.

After my interview, I was invited for a trial day. By this point, I had quit my old job, and I was unemployed. My entire future seemed to rest on this one opportunity. The waiting period after my trial day, anticipating the phone call, was nerve-wracking. Then, I remember the exact moment my phone rang. I was sitting on my sofa, watching Love Island (of course), and Sam offered me the job. I broke into floods of tears. From that moment on, I have never looked back.

Working at Gather Social has genuinely changed my life. Being surrounded by such an amazing team has not only helped me grow professionally but has also shaped me into a better person—for my family, my boyfriend, my friends, and my colleagues. The confidence and self-belief I’ve gained in this past year are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. My personal development has flourished beyond what I thought was possible.

From attending incredible client shoots to developing creative skills I never imagined I had, this year has been a journey of growth and development, both personal and professional. Of course, I’ve also felt the frustration of Meta Business Suite (if you know, you know). At just 22 years old, I am the youngest member of the Gather Social team (yes, I am the baby), but to be believed in by the MD and the rest of the team at such a young age has given me the confidence that I needed to truly jump-start my marketing career.

Looking back on this past year, it has been an absolute whirlwind. And I can honestly say… I love my job.
